At Running for Freedom, formerly known as Run for Health, we are driven by a singular passion: to empower individuals of all abilities to experience the exhilaration of crossing the finish line. Founded by Steve Scott, a dedicated advocate for inclusivity in sports, we have been pushing boundaries and breaking barriers since our inception.
From 5Ks to marathons, and everything in between, Steve has been a relentless force, guiding and supporting athletes across a myriad of races. Our mission is simple yet profound: to spread the joy of racing to every corner of the United States. Currently operating in Virginia, we work closely with families to create unforgettable moments of inclusion, triumph, and camaraderie. Running for Freedom empowers individuals of all abilities to experience the joy of crossing the finish line through inclusive races. Our journey began in 2000, realizing that collective efforts can overcome challenges effectively. Join us in making a positive impact through our initiatives.

Your support can manifest in various ways, including sponsoring shirts for our volunteers and athletes or contributing funds towards adaptive wheelchairs. Specifically, we aim to acquire additional chairs akin to those provided by the Hoyt Foundation. Hoyt Running Chairs, such as "The Blade," are meticulously designed for racing, come at a cost of roughly $5,000 each.
